In keeping with Portia
Steele's "Less is More" philosophy, this year's competition
challenges your creativity. Any subject may be used, but brevity
is the key. Writers are challenged to express themselves in what
Portia called the "Short Short" poem or story.

--Poetry: |
Fifty words of text or less.
|
|
--Prose: |
One hundred words of text or
less.
|
|
--Entries: |
1) Use Microsoft Word File Format.
Use the D-O-C, TXT or RTF format only.
2)
Must be double-spaced and use 12-point
Ariel or Times Roman.
3)
Unpublished poetry and prose only.
4)
One submission per category only.

--Email: |
Entries will be accepted via email only. Here
are the guidelines for 2010:
SEPARATE EMAILS: If you
enter both categories, send an individual email for each
category.
1) THE SUBJECT OF YOUR EMAIL: State the
name of your entry WITH the word "poetry" or "prose" in the
subject line.
2) THE BODY OF YOUR EMAIL: In the body of
the email, include the following information:
-- Name:
-- Address:
-- City, State, Zip:
--Telephone number:
-- Title of entry:
and
3) AN ATTACHMENT TO YOUR EMAIL: Your
poetry or prose entry should be submitted as an attachment.
Please be sure to include the title of your entry, but NOT your
contact information. Submit to
contest@portiasteeleaward.org.

Winners will be announced on July 24, 2010 on the home page of this
website. They will also be contacted individually. |

Due to the number of participants, if entries
are submitted incorrectly, they will be omitted. We will do our
best to advise you that the format is incorrect and advise you to
"re-submit" your entry. Please accept our apologies. |
